We are thrilled to announce that this lecture will be happening in front of a live audience at Francis Holland School near Sloane Square as well as being streamed on Zoom for those who prefer to watch from home.
Richard talks about his experience of Gardening for his own wellbeing – as well as the way it can benefit his patients, and the growing momentum of Therapeutic Horticulture across the UK.
Richard Claxton is a GP in Tonbridge, Kent, and a keen gardener. He is training in Garden Design – and has a special interest in designing gardens with the health needs of their users, both in residential and healthcare settings. He is passionate about the therapeutic benefits of green and horticultural activities, and curates a web-based directory of Therapeutic Gardens within the UK.
Dr Clare Hickman will join the Post talk discussion. She is an environmental and medical historian based at Newcastle University focusing on post 1750 Britain. Her recent books include The Doctor's Garden: Medicine, Science and Horticulture - A Portrait of Dr John Coakley Lettison and his garden at Grove Hill, London which will be the topic of a talk to the London Gardens Trust in January 2023.
