"Since the Renaissance, artists have worked between the two areas of sculpture and drawing, looking to one to solve artistic and creative problems in the other. In the twentieth century almost every eminent painter pursued and incorporated sculpture into their practice. For many sculptors there was a need to pursue painting in their practice. There were many painters in the past that you wouldn’t expect who worked in this way, as well as eminent artists of today. This course explores the creative boost provided by the relationship and tension working between a sculptural or three-dimensional rendering of something, and a drawing of it in two dimensions..."
