"Every image is a kaleidoscope of a different moment in time and a different artist's reaction to the world around them. Every subject can be represented in completely different ways: for the printmaker Hokusai, water was a fabric of swirl patterns, for Leon Kosoff it was a noisy, splashing of rough charcoal marks...Could visual patterns be the global currency of world imagery?...
Each week on this course we will consider a distinct challenge: how might we draw our memories, our conversations, our bodies, our imaginings? Through examining artworks from different times and cultures we will engage with a multitude of styles and individual attempts as answering some of these universal questions. .."
