"Is the climate crisis a crisis of the imagination? Can we use drawing as a way not only to picture its devastating consequences, but also to find or make a way out or through? On this course, students will draw from observation, imagination, and in response to visual and written texts. Taking inspiration from depictions of dystopias and utopias in art, film, TV and literature, from Hieronymus Bosch to Tarkovsky, Octavia Butler and Margaret Atwood, we will consider the role that image-making can play in enlivening our imaginations and opening them to the possibilities of our time..."
