AAL Art Awards Shortlist, 2021: Christie's

Behnaz Atighi Moghaddam, Head of Sales in Islamic and Indian Art at Christie’s, presents Christie’s shortlisted piece for the Antiques Trade Gazette Award for Outstanding Islamic or Indian Work of Art from an Auction House - six portraits of Ottoman Sultans. They are: Orhan (r.1326-1362), Bayezid I (r.1389-1402), Isa Celebi (d.1406) , Mehmet I (r.1413-1421), Selim I (r.1512-1520) and Selim II (r.1566-1574). These six paintings are a resplendent reflection of one of the most intriguing and influential cultural exchanges between the Ottomans and Europe in the 16th century.
