Description from Ben Uri Gallery and Museum:

ABOUT MAX WEBER
Max Weber (1881 – 1961), was a Russian-American artist more commonly known as America’s first Cubist artist. Like David Bomberg, Weber contributed to the avant-garde artistic movements of the 20th century after studying at the Académie Julian and spending time with artists like Henri Rousseau and Pablo Picasso. This influence Weber brought back to New York, where he painted many of his most well-known pictures.
